ISAF Response to November Rule Changes

Dear Farr 30 Owners,

The United States finally has a new President, and all the Farr 30 votes have been recounted by hand. Following are the results of the recent vote on Class Rule changes. The items that passed will be submitted to ISAF for approval, and the new rules will be sent to all owners upon their final approval.

1.1 ELIGIBILITY - As defined in the current US Sailing Competitor Eligibility Prescription to the ISAF Racing Rules of Sailing... (Delete year and appendix reference)...competitors shall be required to present US Sailing or RORC Rating Office Eligibility Rulings...

1.2 STEERING -All helmsmen in One Design Class Racing shall be Group 1 Competitors; except in case of emergency involving the safety of the yacht or crew, or for Group 2 and 3 competitors who are qualified under rule 1.3 as Owners as of the date of ratification of this rule change by the ISAF.

10.3.h TOPPING LIFT, JIB HALYARD AND SPINNAKER HALYARD CONTROLS - Jib and spinnaker halyards and the topping lift shall lead aft to cabin top jammers/cleats. In addition, cam cleats (Harken part #365 or equivalent), for the spinnaker halyard and topping lift may be added to the mast below their exits. These cleats are not intended to carry the full working load of the halyard.

10.3.l. - Boom vang shall be a maximum purchase of 20:1 lead aft to cleats on the cabin top (port and starboard).

25.5 - Sail Limitation ...each yacht is permitted four new class sails...and US $30.00 each for the additional four allowed annually.
